How have the 18 months since the beginning of the pandemic affected your career, and your life in general? There are some amazing people in the world doing great work, and I am honoured when my music can support that work. It hit me last year when I started to write Stoney Creek, the. It’s a recurring image that speaks of wide-open space and the awesome natural elements that shape it: a force far greater than us, but ours to harness if we take the time to learn, reflect and respect its ways. I sing about how I feel and what I love, and often that resonates and aligns with great causes that are happening for positive change. The wind blows strong though Xavier Rudd’s tenth album. I don’t intentionally set out to use my platform for anything in particular. How important is using your platform and the medium of music to educate people and encourage compassion and respect? You’re a proud advocate for the land rights of Australia’s traditional owners, the sacredness of our natural environments and various other social and environmental causes. It was great to work with Leo Kottke and Angélique Kidjo, and I recently did a collaboration with J-MILLA on this new record. Who are some of your favourite artists that you’ve collaborated with? Life has been tuff for everyone this last few years and now more than ever people deserve to dream big. I like to honour that and experiment with that. Just as Xavier Rudd releases We Deserve To Dream - the second track from his forthcoming tenth studio album due in early 2022 - he announces news of a massive European and UK ‘We Deserve To Dream tour in 2022 covering eighteen countries.
